Giant Chess Board in Parc des Bastions, GenevaParc des Bastions, or Bastions Park, is a must-visit beautiful park in the heart of Geneva, located next to Place Neuve, just under the Geneva’s Old Town.

Bastions Parc is famous for the Reformation Wall proudly standing here, big chess boards at the entrance, great restaurant and big playground for a kids. Bastions park is fronting the University from one side.

The main entrance to Bastions Park is from Place Neuve. Just behind the big decorated gate are huge black-white boards for playing Chess, Go and Checkers, always full of people immersed in their game, old or young. Behind the game boards is popular Restaurant and several refreshement stalls that will sweeten Your day, and behind the restaurant is hidden big adventurous playground for children with their families, offering the opportunity to spent an afternoon playing.

Geneva Reformation Wall Parc des Bastions has lot of green lawns, big trees and open air, all making up for a beautiful park. During sunny days many people lay down on the grass or have a picnic here, others read a newspaper or browse the internet sitting on one of many benches. Oftentimes in a summer musical festivals, cultural or other events take place here and it is no rarity to see people walking a slackline sprung between the threes.

Parc Bastions has beautiful peaceful restaurant, located in a construction of former botanical glass house.

Sequoia
Geneva is also interested for many various and not so usual trees standing here. Don’t miss the huge tall and very old seqoia standing not far from Reformation Wall (little further from the chess boards), which is getting so old that the top of the three is dying off.

Situated next to the Place de Neuve, the Parc des Bastions is a bubble of nature in the city centre. Along its promenade lined with trees, this park is home to some of the finest monuments in the city. It also has several life-size chess sets.
Located below the Old Town, the Parc des Bastions is a large green area in the city centre. The park is the site of Geneva’s first botanical garden.
You can admire the famous Reformation Wall, which represents the personalities of the Reformation, the Palais Eynard, which houses the executive authorities of the city, or the University and Library of Geneva.
It has a restaurant, next to which the giant free chess sets are a delight for passersby.
There is also a playground and a free skating rink in winter.

Anteriormente el primer jardín botánico de Ginebra (fundado por A. P. de Candolle en 1817 y conservado hasta principios del siglo XX), este hermoso paseo en el corazón de la ciudad ahora está embellecido por monumentos, fuentes y estatuas a lo largo de sus sombreados paseos, y ofrece más de cincuenta variedades raras de árboles para admirar.

No te pierdas en los alrededores el Muro de los Reformadores, erigido en 1909 para honrar a los fundadores del protestantismo; el Palacio Eynard, construido en el siglo XIX como residencia privada de un banquero – y hoy sede de del Ayuntamiento de la Ciudad de Ginebra -, y la Universidad de Ginebra, un imponente edificio que empezó como una academia fundada por Juan Calvino en el siglo XVI.

Un pabellón que alberga un restaurante, así como un ajedrez de tamaño natural y una zona de juegos, convierten el lugar en un punto de encuentro favorito entre locales y turistas.

El Monumento Internacional de la Reforma, generalmente conocido con el nombre de Muro de los Reformadores, se halla en Ginebra (Suiza). Elevado en el actual Parque de los Bastiones y con una longitud cercana al centenar de metros, se adosa a una parte de las antiguas murallas construidas en el siglo XVI y que rodearon la ciudad hasta mediados del siglo XIX. El monumento fue inaugurado en 1909 con ocasión del 400º aniversario del natalicio de Juan Calvino y el 350º aniversario de la fundación de la Academia de Ginebra, que se ha convertido hoy en la Universidad de Ginebra. El monumento está formado por una pared de piedra grabada y adornada con bajorrelieves, delante del cual se erigieron las estatuas de los pioneros o guardianes de la Reforma. El conjunto está protegido por un área de agua que recuerda la zanja de las antiguas fortificaciones.
